Etape du Tour training camp
July 1 @ 17:00 - July 8 @ 17:00
The Etape du Tour training camp is aimed at helping you perform at your best at the Etape. It is also an excellent preparation for other mountain sportives such as a 3-day or a 7-day Haute Route. All the Alpine Cols coaches have huge experience in riding sportives and are delighted to share their knowledge. During the week you will not only be riding every day in the mountains, you will also have the chance to exchange with our coaches and other participants on all things cycling-related.
Training camp objectives
- Ride the Etape du Tour route (in three parts over three days)
- Improve key skills (climbing, descending, pacing, nutrition)
- Develop your optimum pacing strategy for the race
All rides will be at a steady endurance pace intended to maintain your ability to perform well at the Etape. This is also excellent base training for the Haute Route.
Training before the training camp
The week before the race is obviously too late to impact your fitness, and it is vital to have done the necessary training before coming. All participants will receive an outline 6-month training plan and guidelines to prepare for the Etape du Tour.
As well as the usual tips and advice on techniques from our experienced coaches, we are delighted to welcome Bryan Taylor from Verve Cycling, the manufacturer of Infocranks®. This is the official power meter of the UCI World Cycling Centre and also at British Cycling. Bryan is one of the world’s leading experts on the use of power in cycling. He will be our evening guest lecturer as well as available one-on-one to debrief your power recordings and offer individual advice.
You will have the opportunity to ride (free of charge) with a set of Infocranks® during the week, and to enrol in the MyPower programme.
