La Clusaz

One of France’s best kept secrets, La Clusaz (altitude: 1040 m) is a picturesque Alpine village only an hour away from Geneva Airport. Its church, traditional wooden chalets and thriving outdoor market preserve its charm and authenticity.

A unique cycling base

La Clusaz is unique in the Alps in offering no fewer than five different roads out of the village, in five different directions. There’s no need to take the same road every day, or to start out with a mini-bus ride!

Two of these routes begin climbing immediately, to the Col des Aravis or to the Col de la Croix-Fry. One begins with a short descent before climbing to the Col de la Colombière, and the remaining two begin by lengthy descents before tacking the first climb of the day. The summits of three of the best-known climbs from the Tour de France are thus within less than 20 km on the bike.

A total of 27 major climbs all figure on one or more of our circuits from La Clusaz, and with the exception of two of them, all can easily be managed in a day’s ride from the hotel by moderately fit riders.

A perfect family destination

As well as a perfect base for our climbs, La Clusaz is a fantastic place for a family holiday. We will organise horse-riding, tennis, golf, swimming and ice-skating in the village, or hiking, mountain-biking, canyoning and tobogganing in the surrounding mountains. Or guests can just relax in the hotel’s private spa. There’s a huge array of activities to keep everybody happy each day, before we all meet up in the afternoon for “Tea and Tall Tales”.

We would be delighted to arrange any of these activities for you. Please note that many of them do involve an extra cost, and are very popular so should be booked in advance. More details.
