Sunday June 3rd, 2018
The 15th edition of this justly popular cyclosportive will take place on Sunday June 3rd 2018, starting in Sallanches and finishing in Megève, just a 45 minute drive from our base in La Clusaz. There are usually about 1500 participants. This is significantly fewer than the Etape du Tour, but much more than most of the Alpine sportives. As well as being an excellent event in its own right, the Time Megève is great training for a later event such as the Marmotte, the Etape du Tour or the Haute Route.
Route and profile
The route changes every year. There are three choices of distance, which offer either one, two or three major climbs.
- Short: 55 km with 1,148 m vertical, passing by Saint Gervais and Praz sur Arly. This is an easy introduction to an Alpine sportive.
- Medium: 80 km with 2,088 m vertical, including the col de la Colombière and the col des Aravis. This is a decent challenge early in the season.
- Long: 130 km with 3,818 m vertical, including the col de la Colombière, the col des Glières, the col de la Croix-Fry and the last part of the col des Aravis. By any reasonable measure, this is a tough route!
The route is well designed so that if you miss the time cut-offs you can simply keep going on one of the shorter distances. You can see the profiles here.
