Sunday June 4th, 2017
The 15th edition of this justly popular cyclosportive will take place on Sunday June 4th 2017, starting and finishing in Mégève, just a 45 minute drive from our base in La Clusaz. There are usually about 1500 participants. This is significantly fewer than the Etape du Tour, but much more than most of the Alpine sportives. As well as being an excellent event in its own right, the Time Mégève is great training for a later event such as the Marmotte, the Etape du Tour or the Haute Route.
Route and profile
The route has changed from 2016. There are three choices of distance, which offer either two, three or four major climbs.
- Short: 87 km with 2,150 m vertical, passing by the col de la Forclaz de Quiège and the col des Saisies, via Hauteluce. Quite tough, this is definitely not an easy option!
- Medium: 117 km with 3,200 m vertical, adding the col du Pré, passing over the Roselend dam and returing to Megève over the col des Saisies, via Les Villes and Hauteluce. This is a very tough ride!
- Long: 142 km with 3,950 m vertical, following the same course as the medium until Hautluce, where it descends again to Beaufort and returns to the col des Saisies and Megève via Bisanne. By any reasonable measure, this is extremely tough!
The route is well designed so that if you miss the time cut-offs you can simply keep going on one of the shorter distances. You can see the maps and profile here.
