26-27 August, 2017
This will be the seventh edition of this popular sportive. The dates have changed for 2017 (up till now it has alwys been held on the first weekend of October).
Starting from St Jorioz on the shores of Lake Annecy, it takes some of the same roads as the 2013 Etape du Tour, looping through the Bauges mountain range. We highly recommend this excellent sportive. It takes in some magnificent countryside and mountainous scenery in one of the lesser-known areas.
Route and profile.
In 2016 there were two choices for the route:
- Short – 100km with 2400 m vertical. The shorter distance takes you over the Col de Leschaux, the Col de Plainpalais, the Col des Près and then back over the Col de Leschaux to the finish just above the lake.
- Long – 136 km with 3000 m vertical. The longer distance is a significant end-of-season challenge. It begins by climbing from the lake to the summit of the Semnoz, where Nairo Quintana took the stage victory in front of Chris Froome in 2013. The route then loops back down behind the Semnoz to join the shorter route at the foot of the Col de Plainpalais.
